Breaking news from firsthelpline.com, the comparison service that helps you find the right broadband deal in minutes – Cheap broadband 'has caused filesharing to evolve' - 01/04/2010

Cheap broadbandhas played an integral part in the evolution of filesharing services, an expert has said.

According to Ernesto Van Der Sar, founder and editor-in-chief of TorrentFreak.com, faster cheap broadband connections have allowed filesharing users to change their habits over the last few years because they can now do more than ever before.

"Initially it took up to an hour to download a low quality music song, but today people can download a high-definition motion picture in the same time," he said. "That said, the underlying technology has not changed that much."

Consumer broadband has also led to improved video streaming, which is increasingly causing the difference between TV and the internet to "slowly disappear".

Mr Van Der Sar pointed out that in recent times there have been a few initiatives launched to try and optimise peer-to-peer streaming applications and such initiatives are predicted to grow in the near future.
